January 14, 2009

So for Christmas, Tyler got a rock climbing hangboard so that he can pretend to be climbing in our house when the weather is not nice to play outside.  Here’s a few pics of him preparing and playing with his new toy……

The Shearing

January 3, 2009

Most of you probably know (hard not to notice) that Tyler took “No Shave November” so seriously that it turned into “Don’t Shave December.”  I had begun to despair, thinking I would soon be facing “No Shave ’09,” until Tyler received word from Rosetta Stone that they would be sending him to India in January.  With the prospect of flying internationally on his mind, Tyler began to take seriously comments made about his resemblance to terrorists and decided he need to do whatever he could to streamline his experience at the airport.  Hence, the shearing…..

Home Improvements

The next adventure

The next adventure

In my current state of unemployment and consequential free time, I needed a project to occupy myself and so selected painting our second bedroom, which had previously looked more like a John Deere landscape, complete with clouds and rolling hills.  Since my parents apparently weren’t busy enough building their own house, they decided to come visit and lend their expertise in painting my house.

Despite being relatively new to the painting process, Tyler and I made sure to supervise our painters and offer our helpful suggestions.

Hmmm....is it too late to turn back?

Tyler made sure to keep our laborers happy by playing the football game form our computer (go Mac!).

My German grandpa, Opa, also came along to contribute his considerable ability in our home improvement endeavors.  He was a master carpenter in Germany, so we benefited in all sorts of ways from his skills.

In addition to our painting project, mom assisted us with one other desperately needed home improvement project…….

And there was great rejoicing among the womenfolk

I even benefited from a free haircut!

Three cheers for family coming to visit and help us out!

Rosetta Stone

July 30, 2008

Quite a bit has happened since… may? i guess that was the last time I update this guy. So I will try to hit the highlights. Oh yeah and Janelle and I found out that when we go out climbing together, which is something we like to do, It’s bad to say “hey hun, get a really good hold on that rock cause I need to let go of the rope and take a picture”. so we don’t have a lot of pictures from our climbing adventures. Also we usually forget our camera.

Anyway, you might know that I no longer work for Enterprise, yay. It was a great experience, and I learned a lot. Mostly about how to save my hide when people threaten to  ”clean house”. But it was a great time for me to brush up on my customer service skills and I really think God used that to prepare me for where He has me now… which is…. Rosetta Stone!! yay. www.rosettastone.com. So this is really a really great job. I’m working in the Product Support department, so that means if you have Rosetta Stone and you can’t figure out why you keep getting a 1722 error you could call me, and I’d say well that’s a shame you will have to adjust your DEP settings to allow WrapperP and you should be fine. It makes me sound so smart :) Also if you happen to have any desire to learn a new language, I get a limited supply of discounted products.

Last Saturday we went to St. Mary’s falls with adam neff. This is an amazing place full of water falls, cliffs, and swimming. again we forgot our camera, but we had a blast throwing rocks at things, jumping into water, standing on logs, and jumping from rocks into water. You can find more info here: http://www.swimmingholes.org/va.html

There are also some pictures from our last rock climbing expedition with Chris and Faith, a couple good shots of my “good side” and always lots of fun.
